The Huntington Chamber Choir celebrates diverse and outstanding choral repertoire through excellence in performance. Our singers are an auditioned, committed, intergenerational group who enthusiastically share their love of music, modeling the highest level of personal and collective musicianship.
Conductor Judy Leopold and singers strive to create an environment that enlivens the role of choral music in our community.
Judy Leopold, Founder and Director
Judy Leopold, a fourth generation Huntingtonian, was educated at the Eastman School of Music where she majored in piano and voice. After graduating, she lived in Woodstock, New York where she conducted the Mid-Hudson Madrigal Singers and founded the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, a community ensemble still in existence 30 years later.
Ms. Leopold is retired from Walt Whitman High School in Huntington Station, where she annually directed four award-winning choirs. She currently serves as NYSSMA Choral Curriculum Chairperson. She is sought after as an accompanist on Long Island and has served as guest conductor for Suffolk and Nassau County’s Honor Choirs, Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, and the National Chorale’s Annual Messiah Sing-In at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.
Ms. Leopold’s vision for the Huntington Chamber Choir comes from her experience with adults of all ages who love to sing the great masterpieces of the choral tradition in an ensemble setting.
